Application

It is used to prepare succinic acid, pentanediol, tetrahydrofuran, pyran, etc., and is also used as a solvent for coatings, resins and greases. It is used as a lubricant and dispersant in the printing and dyeing industry, as a decolorizing and deodorizing agent for pharmaceuticals, and as a raw material for organic synthesis such as plasticizers, herbicides and insecticides. Tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol is brominated to give tetrahydrofuran methyl bromide, which is substituted with sodium thiosulfate to obtain tetrahydrofuran sodium methylthiosulfate. It is a raw material for long-acting vitamin B1 (furan thiamine).
